Event Description

Are you curious about how sign language interpreter regulations could shape the future of the profession in California? Join us for an insightful and interactive professional development workshop where we’ll explore interpreter regulations from states across the nation. This workshop will feature experts from regions that have already navigated the process of establishing interpreter regulations, providing a firsthand look into the goals behind their decisions, the steps taken to implement these changes, and the real-world impact on both interpreters and the Deaf communities they serve.

Together, we’ll unpack key questions:

  • How do some states experience the implementation of regulation?
  • What were their intentions, and have they achieved their goals?
  • What are the benefits and challenges they’ve experienced since enacting these regulations?

As we explore these diverse regulatory systems, we will also consider what this could mean for the State of California. What might the implementation of a regulatory framework look like here, and how could it impact our local interpreting community? This workshop is an essential opportunity for interpreters, stakeholders, and advocates to engage in a meaningful dialogue about the future of the profession.

Don't miss this chance to learn from others' experiences and be part of shaping the potential regulatory landscape for sign language interpreters in California!
